Valencia flood disaster
Hundreds of people have died and thousands were affected by the rain in the Valencian Community, among other regions in Spain. Numerous municipalities remain in a state of emergency. Torrential rains have reached up to 600 liters per square meter in some areas, causing rivers to overflow, cuts in basic services and the closure of critical infrastructures, including educational centers in 69 municipalities, affecting thousands of children.
In tragic times like these, children are the most vulnerable.
What is Educo doing:

We are working with social entities in the affected and neighboring areas with which we have been carrying out projects for years to improve the lives of the most vulnerable children and adolescents.

We are going to promote psychosocial, educational and leisure activities for the affected children. We have also distributed water, food and cleaning materials, which are the most urgent needs.

In addition, we have sent the state and regional governments a series of recommendations to ensure safe environments and good treatment for children and adolescents in the areas most affected by the storm.

Educo’s work in emergencies
For more than 30 years, Educo has been working in favor of children's rights, specifically the right to quality education. As experts in education in emergencies, we have responded in countries such as Gaza, Ukraine, Burkina Faso, the Philippines and Nicaragua, many of which have been affected by extreme meteorological phenomena. Also in Spain, in 2021 we launched an emotional support and art therapy program for children affected by the La Palma volcano.
In tragic times like these, children are the most vulnerable.
